The book is based on a monography by Max Pollermann and Werner Litzow, published in 1995 as a monography of Juelich Research Centre (No. 11) under the title ´Ohne Energie geht nichts´. The original publication had more than 800 pages and outlined the history of the known energy sources, i.e. renewables as well as non-renewables like fossil fuels and nuclear power. All aspects of power generation and transmission were gone into. The original text and illustrations were stored on about 30 floppy disks, which since then have deteriorated in quality. In order to avoid further loss of knowledge, it was decided to publish parts of the monography in single brochures. This brochure goes into the history of wind power, wind turbine components, power generation and transmission.
